HIV Testing

 

OASIS Florida provides free HIV testing using Sure Check & our latest tool, the INSTI. These rapid test utilize a lancet to prick the finger. You will receive you test results in a matter of minutes! (Options for an Oral Test are available. Results may take 20+ minutes)

If the test results are reactive or preliminary positive, then a confirmatory test is done with an OraSure test.  This test is done with oral swab as well and the swab is sent to a laboratory for the screening of the HIV antibodies and results come back in 2 weeks.

What the results of a rapid test mean:

​

REACTIVE- This result means that HIV antibodies have been detected in the specimen. However, a result cannot be confirmed POSITIVE until the OraSure confirmatory test has been administered by Miracle of Love staff and analyzed through a laboratory.

NON-REACTIVE- This result means that antibodies were not detected in the blood at the time of testing. However, this does not completely rule out the possibility of infection with HIV if you may have come in contact with the virus within the last 3 months.
